Rancher’s Prayer - Fall 2023

Lord,

We often don't talk, and I honestly figure I can do it alone most times, but we can sure use your help now.

We've been hurtin’ the last several years, but this one has been looking good for quite a few months. The rain, the small wins, the good grass, and projected prices have made us tremendously thankful this year. I ask this of you:

Please hold them prices for one day longer.

We've had a long day of shipping today and done everything we could this past year. So, I ‘spose that means it's out of our hands and into yours now. Each of our hands have cared after these critters at one point or another. And as you know, I've spent countless hours stressing over the lives of these beautiful red creatures we get to enjoy within our world each year.

With all the calves gone, waiting in the auction pens for tomorrow's bids please look over them. I ask you to bless them. I ask you to give them the best life you can until that fateful day for them to feed America’s families. Please ensure their well-being, their health, and guarantee no suffering is ever laid upon them.

Lord, after all these good days give us just one more.

Oh, one last thing…tell all the old men Hi for me up there.

In your name, Amen.
