Rancher’s Prayer - Fall 2024
Lord,
We humbly pray to you this fall that you keep them prices high once more. Last year you answered our call and somehow, someway we find ourselves in a similar set of dusty boot prints. While calls for rain this year came answered few and far between, it looks as though you decided to give us another shot at sellin’ these critters at a decent mark.
We ask that after bringing the herd home only one week ago, that you bless us as we gather them all one final time and separate the babes from the mamas and ship them off to the ring. Please watch over our beautiful bovine, the family as we gather, the miles while we travel, and the hands that await to receive our humble, loaded trailers. Finally, please bless the animals as they make their way toward the next phase of our industry and one step closer to feeding a family somewhere out there in the coming years.
We aren’t the only family bringing ‘em in this week, so do your best to look after every last trailerful. We’ll be starting in the dark and likely ending the same way, so guide us and our headlights as we push through the long trips to town and back.
By the way—this year marked a short decade since the old man left us…give him and all our beloved stockmen a big hug for us. More importantly, remind them we’re still trying.
In your name, Amen.
